Rumpy 2002-2006

REMINISCING

I’m sat here in my rocking chair,
Remembering the day we met,
I’m now old and weak with greying hair,
Yes! That night, so cold and very wet.

At first I could only see your head,
On that ghastly dark and gloomy night,
I really thought that you were dead,
Then you looked up, I got such a fright.

You had been abandoned and left to roam,
Because you were old and grey,
I lifted you up and took you home,
In front of the fire I let you lay.

I gave you food and a nice warm drink,
But little did you eat,
I bathed you in my kitchen sink,
Oh! So lucky we did meet.

I took you to the vet next morning,
They said you were about nine,
So tired you were and started yawning,
The vet said, “You’ll be just fine”.

I remember how you laid your head,
On my pillow in that special way,
You loved to sleep with me in bed,
We were so happy every day.

The time had come for you to go,
To that rainbow in the sky,
My heart was full of woe,
You were such a happy little guy.

I sit here in my rocking chair, listening to the rain,
Reminiscing, these last seven years,
My darling pet, can’t wait till we meet again,
Unable, to hold back my tears.

An angel came, softly calling,
She patted me with her hand.
I arose, but felt, as though I was falling,
I’m on my way to join you, in that rainbow land.
